Basketball Recap: Scotland/Menno Takes a Loss

Scotland/Menno played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Freeman Flyers and fell 73-37. The Trappers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-21.

Scotland/Menno's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Dennis, who posted eight points. Micah Goehring also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Tate Sorensen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Freeman, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Sorensen also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. David Walter was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Scotland/Menno and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Freeman, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotland/Menno will take on Gayville-Volin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freeman, they will square off against Avon at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
