Basketball Recap: Laurel Comes Up Short

Laurel lost against Ellwood City back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Laurel Spartans took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ellwood City Wolverine. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Aaron Lake, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds for Ellwood City. Ellwood City is 2-1 when Lake posts ten or more rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. Chuckie Schweinsberg was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Laurel's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Ellwood City, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Laurel will venture away from home to take on Union Area at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union Area will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Laurel surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ellwood City, they will host Freedom Area at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellwood City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season.
