Softball Game Preview: Dublin Scioto Irish vs. Olentangy Berlin Bears

The Dublin Scioto Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Olentangy Berlin Bears at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Dublin Scioto's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Olentangy Berlin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Dublin Scioto's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Dublin Coffman hitters got past them. The Irish lost 15-5 to the Shamrocks on Saturday.

Lyla Magnussen and Gina Wasko stepped up to the plate in a big way. Magnussen went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Wasko went 3-for-4 with two runs. That triple was Magnussen's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Olentangy Berlin posted their closest win since April 24th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Hilliard Bradley 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Olentangy Berlin's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Dublin Scioto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.

Dublin Scioto couldn't quite get it done against Olentangy Berlin in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 6-3. Can the Irish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
