Baseball Recap: Slidell Beats Zachary for Their Third Straight Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Slidell walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Zachary Broncos 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brayden Calamari made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

Calamari wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charles Burdett, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Slidell's win bumped their record up to 25-10. As for Zachary, their loss dropped their record down to 21-15-1.

Slidell will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Broncos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
