Basketball Recap: Asotin Takes a Loss

Asotin lost against Freeman back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Asotin Panthers were beaten by the Freeman Scotties 65-8. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Freeman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylee Russell led the charge by going 9 of 14 en route to 19 points. Russell is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Finley Pecht was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 11 points and four steals.

Asotin's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Freeman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Asotin Panthers challenge the Upper Columbia Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freeman, they will face off against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
