Valentine hadn't done well against Gordon-Rushville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Valentine really took it to the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs for the full four quarters, racking up an 80-43 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-16.

Valentine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Cronin, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and six blocks. That's the most blocks Cronin has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Beebout, who put up 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Valentine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Gordon-Rushville still got an impressive performance from Daniel Martins, who went 10-for-17 en route to 22 points and eight boards. Brody Popken was another key player, putting up nine points.

Valentine is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Gordon-Rushville's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Coming up, Valentine will challenge Chadron at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Chadron has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Gordon-Rushville, they will face off against Morrill at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gordon-Rushville is facing Morrill at the right time seeing as Morrill is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
