Softball Game Preview: Williston Northampton Wildcats vs. Cheshire Academy Cats

The Williston Northampton Wildcats are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Cheshire Academy Cats at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Williston Northampton is headed out to face Cheshire Academy after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Miss Porter's on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Cheshire Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Ethel Walker by a score of 9-5.

E Dibennedetto spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, M Stanford and K Durkin did most of the damage at the plate: Stanford scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5, while Durkin scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was A Sutera, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
