Basketball Game Preview: Westfield Shamrocks vs. Hamilton Southeastern Royals

Westfield is 2-8 against Hamilton Southeastern since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Westfield Shamrocks will head out to face off against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Westfield comes in on five and Hamilton Southeastern on 18.

Last Saturday, Westfield took their match with ease, bagging a 53-14 win over Hamilton Heights. The contest marked the Shamrocks' most dominant victory of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton Southeastern). They really took it to Carroll for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-43 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-22.

Westfield better keep an eye on Kennedy Holman. She was instrumental in Hamilton Southeastern's win, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists. That's the most points Holman has posted since back in January of 2024. Maya Makalusky was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Hamilton Southeastern was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hamilton Southeastern pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Westfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Westfield took a serious blow against Hamilton Southeastern in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 52-21. Can Westfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
