Basketball Game Preview: Williams Vikings vs. Joseph City Wildcats

Williams has won three straight games at home, while Joseph City has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Williams Vikings will welcome the Joseph City Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Williams humbled BASIS Flagstaff with a 58-30 victory.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Joseph City over Mayer in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Joseph City blew Mayer out of the water with an 83-9 final score. With Joseph City ahead 49-5 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Williams better keep an eye on April Neill. She was instrumental in Joseph City's win, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten steals. That's the most points Neill has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Neill, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Joseph City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 26 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Williams' win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Joseph City, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

Williams was dealt a bruising 66-29 defeat at the hands of Joseph City in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Williams was down 39-13.
