Baseball Recap: Saugus Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Danvers, Saugus was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School Hawks. The Sachems not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 13-6).

Brayden Crawford made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Soroko, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Zeits, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Saugus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Saugus' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12. As for Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Saugus will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair will be back at it again later today.
