Softball Recap: Andover Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Andover ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against the Spring Lake Park Panthers by a score of 10-7. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Alex Kostecka spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chloe Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Andover kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Andover's record is now 10-2. As for Spring Lake Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Coming up, Andover will host Elk River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies are facing the Elks at the right time seeing as the Elks are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Spring Lake Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
