Baseball Recap: Clayton's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Clayton had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Fox Warriors on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Greyhounds: when they faced off against the Warriors on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Trevor Espe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Clayton is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Clayton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Corner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Clayton's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Fox, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Clayton will challenge St. Pius X at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fox, they will square off against East Carter at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
