Softball Recap: Mohawk Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Mohawk is still undefeated this season after their game against Colonel Crawford on Thursday, but Colonel Crawford came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Warriors came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 20, 2024.

Aubrey Gottfried was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mallory Brickner, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Trenna Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mohawk's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Colonel Crawford, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-3.
