Basketball Recap: Paxton Crane's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carroll over Valparaiso

Carroll suffered their closest defeat since January 27, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Valparaiso Vikings by a score of 43-40. The Chargers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Carroll's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paxton Crane, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Crane is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Miles Hering, who posted nine points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

LaVon Redmond was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kj Avery, who posted nine points.

Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Valparaiso, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Carroll wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-50 defeat against South Bend St. Joseph on the 27th. As for Valparaiso, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-42 loss against Hamilton Southeastern on the 27th.
