Soccer Game Preview: Fort Defiance vs. Wilson Memorial

Fort Defiance hasn't had much luck against Wilson Memorial recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Indians will take on the Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Fort Defiance has given up an average of 3.6 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Fort Defiance's offense. They came up short against Waynesboro on Thursday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Fort Defiance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Waynesboro are ranked 51st).

Meanwhile, Wilson Memorial strolled into their game on Monday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. They never let Staunton get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Give Wilson Memorial's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Wilson Memorial's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for Fort Defiance, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10-2.

Fort Defiance suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Wilson Memorial in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
