Softball Game Preview: Manchester Greyhounds vs. Eastern Eagles

The Manchester Greyhounds will take on the Eastern Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eastern will be up against a hot Manchester team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Greyhounds blew past Peebles 11-1 on Saturday.

Manchester got a big performance out of Bristynn McClanahan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits McClanahan has posted since back in May of 2024. Elliana Applegate was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Manchester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Eastern never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on East with a sharp 19-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rylie White 2027 was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Putman 2025, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Eastern pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.9 runs over those games. As for Manchester, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.

Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Manchester has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .510. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
