Basketball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oakland Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Patriots are ranked 116th).

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Oakland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Springfield and Memphis Home Education Association will face off at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Memphis Home Education Association knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Springfield likes a good challenge. As for Oakland, they will head out to square off against Beech at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
