Basketball Recap: Walker Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Delphi Community over Caston

Delphi Community was the 62-51 winner over Caston when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Delphi Community Oracles took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caston Comets on Saturday.

Several Oracles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Walker Jones, who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xaine Tessier, who put up ten points.

Even though they lost, Delphi Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Caston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Mollenkopf, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Gavin Mollenkopf also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Delphi Community's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Caston, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.

Delphi Community is taking a road trip to take on Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Delphi Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Caston, they will head out on the road to face off against West Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th.
