Basketball Recap: Carver Vo-Tech's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Carver Vo-Tech unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 66-56 to the City College Black Knights. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Carver Vo-Tech's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Ross, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Ross has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Jordan Youmans was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Carver Vo-Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups.

Carver Vo-Tech's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for City College, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Carver Vo-Tech didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-50 loss against Poly on the 23rd. As for City College, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-41 victory against Patterson on the 22nd.
