While Valley Union's win against Patagonia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Valley Union Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Patagonia Lobos on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now won seven in a row.

Steven Delacruz made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Delacruz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three RBI.

Delacruz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Marshall Larson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Yahir Luna, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Valley Union's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Patagonia, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Valley Union will challenge Bisbee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patagonia will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hayden at 3:45 p.m. on March 25th.
