Softball Game Preview: Vestavia Hills Rebels vs. Hewitt-Trussville Huskies

Vestavia Hills hasn't had much luck against Hewitt-Trussville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vestavia Hills Rebels will host the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at 4:30 p.m. Vestavia Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Hewitt-Trussville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Vestavia Hills' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Oak Mountain. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hoover by a score of 9-7.

Zaylen Tucker and Sydney Moore did some serious damage despite the final result: Tucker went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Moore went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Tucker has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Hyde, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Vestavia Hills' victory bumped their record up to 7-10-1. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Vestavia Hills couldn't quite get it done against Hewitt-Trussville when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can Vestavia Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
