Basketball Game Preview: Weimar Wildcats vs. Seguin Matadors

Weimar has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Seguin has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The two teams will face off at 3:20 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Weimar has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Weimar is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They snuck past Edna with an 86-81 victory on Thursday.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Seguin against Rice Consolidated on Thursday as the squad secured a 79-19 win. That looming 79-19 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Matadors yet this season.

Weimar has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Seguin, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Things could have been worse for Weimar, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Seguin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Weimar, Desiree Zuniga (who went 8 for 17 on her way to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
