Softball Recap: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Berwyn/Cicero Morton nor Leyden made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mustangs fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.

Alyssa Kunz put in work while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Leyden, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Berwyn/Cicero Morton will face off against rival Addison Trail at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Leyden is set to square off against their familiar foe Proviso East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
