Basketball Recap: Jaevian Alston's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Word of God Christian Academy National over Lab University Prep National

If Word of God Christian Academy National was riding high fresh off their 86-53 takedown of Parris Prep Academy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Word of God Christian Academy National Holy Rams and the Lab University Prep National Kings didn't end well, with the Word of God Christian Academy National Holy Rams falling 95-80. The Holy Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Word of God Christian Academy National's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaevian Alston, who made all 11 shots he took racking up 24 points. Alston's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brandon BJ Solomon Jr, who went 9 of 13 en route to 21 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Word of God Christian Academy National smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Lab University Prep National's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylen Claggett, who went 9 of 14 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points. Claggett is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hunter, who went 10 of 21 on his way to 27 points.

Word of God Christian Academy National has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Lab University Prep National, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Word of God Christian Academy National won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Victory Christian Center at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Word of God Christian Academy National is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.7 points per game this season. As for Lab University Prep National, they will host Amandla Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lab University Prep National knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Amandla Academy likes a good challenge.
