Baseball Game Preview: Vaughn White Tigers vs. Van Nuys Wolves

The Vaughn White Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Van Nuys Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vaughn is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Vaughn came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Riverdale Baptist by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the White Tigers have suffered since March 15th.

Meanwhile, Van Nuys has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.21 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Heritage Christian, falling 13-7. Even though they lost, the Wolves' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Alejandro Diaz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Joaquin Boche was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Vaughn's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Van Nuys, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Vaughn suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Van Nuys when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the White Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
