Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Tigers vs. Waterloo Vikings

For the second straight game, Springfield will face off against Waterloo. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Waterloo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Springfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Waterloo on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.

Noah Troggio and Brock Masello did most of the damage at the plate: Troggio went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Masello went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Troggio is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Greyson Seifert also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Waterloo, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
