Basketball Recap: Indian River Takes a Loss

Indian River lost against Deep Creek back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indian River Braves took a blow against the Deep Creek Hornets, falling 51-20. The contest marked the Braves' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deep Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Herbert, who posted 16 points along with six boards and four steals. Herbert is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherish Brehon, who scored ten points and four steals.

Indian River dropped their record down to 9-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Deep Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Indian River is taking a road trip to challenge Oscar Smith at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Deep Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Deep Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
