The Indian Lake Lakers will face off against the Tri-Village Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Indian Lake's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Urbana with a sharp 10-0 victory. The contest marked the Lakers' most dominant win of the season so far.
Bre Wisener made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Wisener was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MacKenzie Miller, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Annie Rapp, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Indian Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Tri-Village put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Tri-County North by a score of 4-0. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Patriots have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Elizabeth Poling's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Tri-Village's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caley McCarroll, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Tri-Village's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Lake, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Indian Lake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Tri-Village struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
