Softball Recap: Pacheco Panthers vs. Johansen Vikings
Pacheco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 18-8 to the Johansen Vikings. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Sophia Lowery was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Landeros, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Pacheco's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Johansen, they moved to 1-4 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pacheco will venture away from home to face off against Ceres at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pacheco has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Johansen, they will head out on the road to square off against Lathrop at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lathrop is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
