Preview: St. Pius X Panthers vs. Village Vikings
St. Pius X and Village are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The St. Pius X Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Village Vikings at 7:30 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Last Tuesday, St. Pius X suffered a rough 71-51 loss at the hands of St. Thomas Catholic.
Village lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Antonian Prep, falling 81-54. While losing is never fun, Village can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while Antonian Prep is ranked 41st).
St. Pius X now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Village, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season.
St. Pius X was able to grind out a solid win over Village in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 52-43. Will St. Pius X repeat their success, or does Village have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
