Baseball Game Preview: Ambassador Lions vs. Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles

The Ambassador Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Ambassador fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Shalhevet on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Firehawks by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Animo Leadership was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Environmental Charter. The Aztec Eagles have struggled against the White Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Axel Serrano was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Animo Leadership's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Ambassador, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Ambassador came out on top in a nail-biter against Animo Leadership in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
