Volleyball Game Preview: Randolph Ghosts vs. Vermont Commons

The Randolph Ghosts will venture away from home to take on Vermont Commons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Randolph is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Colchester, who was ranked tenth at the time (Randolph was ranked 12th). The Ghosts fell 3-1 to the Lakers on Saturday. It was the first time this season that the Ghosts let down their fans at home.

Randolph started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Vermont Commons came up short against Middlebury on Monday, falling 3-0. Vermont Commons hasn't had much luck with Middlebury recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

While Vermont Commons was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Middlebury's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-9, 25-16.

Randolph now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Vermont Commons, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Randolph's way against Vermont Commons in their previous meeting back in September, as Randolph made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ghosts since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
