The Monarch Coyotes are taking a road trip to take on the Broomfield Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Monarch has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 26.

Last Thursday, Monarch came up short against Frederick and fell 9-6.

Monarch got a good showing from Evan DiCarlo, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. DiCarlo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charlie Pearce and Logan Uhlenhake stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pearce scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Uhlenhake scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Back at the plate, Brendan Fritch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Monarch's record is now 2-8. As for Broomfield, their record now sits at 8-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monarch has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Broomfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
