Basketball Game Preview: Penquis Valley Patriots vs. Mattanawcook Lynx

The Penquis Valley Patriots are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Mattanawcook Lynx at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Penquis Valley is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They were dealt a 73-29 loss at the hands of Schenck.

Meanwhile, Mattanawcook strolled past Central with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 58-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lynx.

Mattanawcook's win came from a few key players Penquis Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kooper McCarthy, who posted eight points in addition to seven steals and six assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Oliver, who had nine points and six boards.

Mattanawcook's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Penquis Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Penquis Valley suffered a grim 61-38 defeat to Mattanawcook in their previous meeting back in January. Can Penquis Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
