Football Recap: Thousand Oaks Takes a Loss

Thousand Oaks was the 21-13 winner over Agoura when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lancers took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Chargers are ranked 54th).

Claire Heisinger was her usual excellent self, throwing for 278 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 63 yards and one TD on only five carries for Agoura. Heisinger has become a key player for the Chargers: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Jenna Grudsky was Heisinger's top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Thousand Oaks has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6-1 record this season. As for Agoura, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Thousand Oaks has already played their next game, a 31-12 win against Oaks Christian on the 16th. As for Agoura, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-12 loss against Newbury Park on the 16th.
