Preview: Patterson Lumberjacks vs. Donaldsonville Tigers
Patterson and Donaldsonville are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Patterson Lumberjacks will head out on the road to face off against the Donaldsonville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Patterson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Archbishop Shaw, falling 55-13. While losing is never fun, Patterson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Archbishop Shaw is ranked 27th).
Meanwhile, Donaldsonville was beaten by St. James 55-24 on Friday. Donaldsonville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Blake Turner put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns.
Patterson's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.3 points per game. As for Donaldsonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Patterson against Donaldsonville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patterson since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
