Baseball Recap: Springfield Southeast Comes Up Short

Springfield Southeast extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-13. They lost 18-1 to Springfield. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Springfield this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in March.

As for Springfield, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9. That 17-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Springfield's part, they got a massive performance out of Brody Scheffler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Scheffler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Borah, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield Southeast will welcome Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Springfield, they will host Maroa-Forsyth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Springfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
