Baseball Recap: Columbia Triumphs

Columbia won the last time they faced Kalama and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bruins walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Chinooks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Landyn Patnode looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Columbia let Seth White and Wyatt Stelma run wild. White went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI, while Stelma went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those four hits gave White a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Wang, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Columbia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Columbia's record now sits at 5-9. As for Kalama, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia will welcome Fort Vancouver at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trappers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.17 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kalama, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against King's at 1:00 p.m.
