Basketball Recap: Gilman City Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gilman City can now relate to. They took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 38-36.

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Miller led the charge by putting up 25 points along with six boards and six steals. Miller has become a key player for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris: the team is 14-7 when he posts at least three steals, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Adrian Boren, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

Gilman City's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Gilman City nor Grundy County/Newtown-Harris have any future games scheduled.
