Baseball Recap: Los Banos Takes a Loss

After flying high against Merced last Monday, Los Banos came back down to earth. The Los Banos Tigers lost 8-1 to the Merced Bears on Wednesday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 11-1.

Owen Baffuno was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Los Banos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Kocher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Los Banos dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Merced, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.

While Los Banos had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
