Knox took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against South Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redskins skirted past the Satellites 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Redskins have posted since May 3, 2024.
Cheryl Barnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Jimtown waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Warriors.
Jimtown also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Claire Carlson gave up four earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Lilly Gaugler was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Jimtown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Knox is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Jimtown, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Knox hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Jimtown struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
