Softball Game Preview: Evangelical Christian Eagles vs. Northpoint Christian Trojans

Evangelical Christian hasn't had much luck against Northpoint Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian will square off against Northpoint Christian at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Evangelical Christian's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Harding Academy with a sharp 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northpoint Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Munford 10-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Ada Woodruff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Woodruff was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Faith Ryan was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Myrick, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Northpoint Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.

Northpoint Christian pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Evangelical Christian, their record now sits at 4-7.

Evangelical Christian suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Northpoint Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Evangelical Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
