Football Recap: Springtown Skates Past China Spring with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Springtown's strategy against China Spring on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Porcupines blew the Cougars out of the water with a 36-7 final score. Fans of the Porcupines have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Springtown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jon Anthony Lardizabal led the charge by rushing for 90 yards and a pair of TDs. Christian Mendoza also helped with two scores in total.

Springtown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Riley Jackson and Caden Rodgers. Another thorn in China Spring's side was Luis Lazcano, who picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.

The victory keeps Springtown at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.8 points on average this season. As for China Spring, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springtown will take on Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Porcupines' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for China Spring, they will square off against Brownwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
