Volleyball Recap: Derby Gets the Win

Derby lost to Maize back in September, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Panthers walked away with a 2-0 win over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Derby didn't let Maize take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 27-25.

Caityn Asmann paced Derby's offense, picking up six kills. Asmann got some help from Mckinley Sinclair and her 17 assists. Finally, Asmann was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Maize lost, don't look at Tinley Travis. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and three assists. Travis is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Derby's victory bumped their record up to 16-17. As for Maize, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-17.

Derby has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Arkansas City on the 21st. As for Maize, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Haysville Campus on the 14th.
