Basketball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars

The Munster Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Kankakee Valley Kougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Munster took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-48 victory over Crown Point.

Cecilia Mason had a dynamite game for Munster, going 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points along with seven assists and six steals. Mason is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Igboamaka Odeluga, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Illiana Christian by a score of 42-32 on Tuesday.

Munster's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Kankakee Valley, their record is now 6-11.

Munster was able to grind out a solid victory over Kankakee Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 62-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Munster since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
