Volleyball Recap: Parkway South Takes Down Ranked Kirkwood

Parkway South faced Kirkwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Pioneers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since May 9, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Parkway South who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, 17-25, 16-14.

Leading Parkway South to victory were Jack McClanahan and Owen Darrough. McClanahan had 12 digs and six assists, while Darrough had 12 kills, six digs, and one block. That's the most kills Darrough has posted over his last six games.

Parkway South pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Kirkwood, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, Parkway South will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkway North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kirkwood, they are taking a road trip to face off against Affton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pioneers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
