Softball Preview: Gunderson Grizzlies vs. Evergreen Valley Cougars

Gunderson is 2-8 against Evergreen Valley since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gunderson Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Evergreen Valley Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Gunderson is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 16.4 runs per game this season.

Gunderson can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They blew past Mt. Pleasant 10-3. The win was just what Gunderson needed coming off of a 19-12 loss in their prior match.

Alanna Martinez Poklong made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Martinez Poklong has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Martinez Poklong was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
