Soccer Game Preview: Croswell-Lexington vs. Almont

Croswell-Lexington hasn't had much luck against Almont recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pioneers will head out to take on the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Croswell-Lexington has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Croswell-Lexington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Armada on Wednesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 7-1. While losing is never fun, Croswell-Lexington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 345th, while Armada are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, Almont entered their tilt with Armada on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Tigers 7-1. The result was nothing new for Almont, who have now won 11 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Almont pushed their record up to 11-4-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those six matchups. As for Croswell-Lexington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7-3.

Croswell-Lexington might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Almont in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
