Basketball Game Preview: Foothill Cougars vs. Lassen Grizzlies

The Foothill Cougars will challenge the Lassen Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Foothill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.

Foothill is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Pleasant Valley just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to the Vikings 47-43. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite their loss, Foothill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zane Miceli, who posted seven points and 12 boards, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Miceli a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cade Memeo, who put up nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Foothill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Valley only pulled down one offensive board.

Lassen played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They walked away with a 56-48 victory over Central Valley.

Lassen's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-16. As for Foothill, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.

Foothill took their victory against Lassen in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 63-41. Will Foothill repeat their success, or does Lassen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
