Baseball Recap: Hickory Has No Trouble Against South Lakes

After only one run in their last contest, Hickory made sure to put some runs up on the board against South Lakes on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Seahawks 10-1. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Hickory got a great performance from Jake Cozart as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Cozart also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Hawks are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Eli Kraft was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Hickory: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Baker, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hickory hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Hickory now has a winning record of 5-4. As for South Lakes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Hickory has already played their next contest, a 12-2 victory against Oscar Smith on the 22nd. South Lakes has also already played their next match (against Hickory H), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
